James Gibson, Florida Highwayman

Artist JAMES GIBSON is one of the original Florida Highwaymen, a loosely-organized group of painters renowned for their depictions of the mid-20th century Florida landscape, and who traveled the state, selling their work out of the trunks of their cars during the years of segregation. Gibson describes the origin of his career in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he continues to paint.
